Large spreading shade tree. Evergreen; loses leaves in March, just as new leaves bud out. Slow-growing up to 50 feet tall. Crown can spread twice as wide as height. Can live hundreds of years and grow into majestic “cathedral” heritage trees. Good for sandy or moist rich soils. Drought-tolerant and easy to care for once established.
